Tamer & Combat Pets Guide

🐾 UNLEASH THE POWER OF BATTLE PETS & ENDGAME BEASTS! 🐾

The custom Pet Leveling and Battle Animal system is fully active on New Hope UO! All tamed combat pets and mounts gain experience points (XP) from combat, leveling up to Level 10 and unlocking massive stat, damage, and skill boosts.

Additionally, tamers with 100.0 Taming, 80.0 Animal Lore, and 80.0 Veterinary automatically empower wild creatures upon taming, assigning them specialized Tank or Damage (DPS) roles with heavy baseline stat increases.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Non-Tameable Draconic Creatures & Bosses

Some legendary monsters encountered in dungeons and champion encounters cannot be tamed under any circumstances. Attempting to tame them will notify you that the creature cannot be tamed:

  • Rikktor: Champion Spawn Boss — Untameable Boss.
  • Skeletal Dragon: Undead high-tier necromancer dragon with 3,500–4,800 HP and lethal melee hits — Untameable Monster.
  • Ancient Wyrm: Apex dragon spellcaster with 4,500–6,000 HP and near-total magic immunity — Untameable Monster.
  • Wyvern & Vicious Wyvern: Deadly venomous flyers (HP 900–1400) — Untameable Monster.
  • Peerless / Raid Dragons (Crimson Dragon, Stygian Dragon): Multi-player raid encounters — Untameable Bosses.

📈 Pet Leveling System Benefits

As your pets gain XP and level up (up to Level 10), they receive permanent boosts based on their assigned path:

🛡️ Tank Path (e.g. Grizzly Bears, Polar Bears, Black Bears, Bulls, Greater Dragons)
  • Max Hits (HP): +30 per level
  • Raw Strength: +10 per level
  • Armor (Virtual Armor): +3 per level
  • Resistances (All elements): +2 per level (Capped at 70%)
⚔️ Damage (DPS) Path (Default path for aggressive creatures, White Wyrms, Drakes, Wolves)
  • Max Hits (HP): +15 per level
  • Raw Strength: +8 per level
  • Raw Dexterity (Attack Speed): +4 per level
  • Base Damage (Min/Max): +1 per level (Directly boosts overall DPS)
  • Resistances (All elements): +1 per level (Capped at 60%)
🎓 Combat Skill Upgrades (All roles)
  • Every level, skills like Wrestling, Tactics, Anatomy, and Magic Resistance cap and base increase by +1.5 (up to a maximum cap of 120.0).
